Today marks the opening of Borgo Pignano Florence

A new chapter for the Borgo Pignano family, following a sensitive, meticulous restoration of this remarkable property.

As a long-time admirer of Borgo Pignano in Volterra, Tuscany, it is particularly exciting to see this new property come to life, and I cannot wait to discover it for myself later this week. For now, here is a little background on the property and the story behind its transformation.

Borgo Pignano Florence is proudly owned by Sir Michael Moritz, the renowned investor and philanthropist. Sir Michael Moritz has a deep commitment to sustainability and environmentally friendly practices, which is evident in both Borgo Pignano Tuscany and the new Borgo Pignano Florence. Under his visionary leadership, the properties have become beacons of sustainable luxury, embracing ecologically sensitive materials and minimising their environmental impact.

Located on the northern hills of the enchanting city of Florence, Borgo Pignano Florence is housed in an ancient 15th-century villa, evoking a sense of history and charm. Situated on an expansive 5 acre estate, the property is surrounded by Italian-style gardens, olive groves, fruit orchards, and vineyards.

This exceptional setting offers the opportunity to experience the best of both worlds – a stay in the proximity of Florence, with its artistic and historical wonders, as well as the tranquillity and serenity of the Tuscan countryside.

Drawing inspiration from the soul of Tuscany, Borgo Pignano Florence comprises 32 exquisitely appointed suites and rooms, located in a fully restored Renaissance villa, inserted in a context of rare beauty. This generous space provides a sanctuary away from the bustling city, while still being conveniently situated within easy reach of the Duomo and other major attractions. Continuing its commitment to sustainability, Borgo Pignano’s new Florentine hotel embraces eco-conscious practices. Throughout the restoration process, ecologically sensitive materials have been utilized, ensuring minimal environmental impact. The team is focused on maintaining a small energy footprint, aligning with ethos of responsible hospitality.

Moreover, food and wine are sourced from the finest local suppliers, supporting the community and showcasing the culinary delights of the region. Guests have the pleasure of savouring these delicacies alongside Borgo Pignano’s own wines, olive oil, vinegars, pasta, and preserves which have greatly contributed to obtaining a green Michelin star in its sister hotel.
