Art and Saint-Tropez – discovering Lou Pinet

Kimberley Cohen and Leslie Kouhana are the sister duo behind Maisons Pariente. We asked them about the creative background to Lou Pinet, their hotel a stone's through from Saint-Tropez.

Saint-Tropez has long attracted artists, writers, and creatives. How did this artistic heritage influence your vision for Lou Pinet?

“The Saint-Tropez that inspired us was very much the Saint-Tropez of artists, freedom, creativity, and light. That heritage deeply influenced the way we imagined Lou Pinet.

“You can feel it in the colours, in the way light is used throughout the property, in the choice of authentic materials, and in the overall desire to return to something more essential.

“We were drawn to that sense of effortless freedom and understated creativity that defined the spirit of Saint-Tropez, before the destination became associated with a more obvious form of glamour.”

Saint-Tropez can be vibrant and energetic, but we felt there was space for a more intimate expression of luxury, one rooted in comfort, authenticity, and meaningful moments rather than spectacle.

Lou Pinet feels intentionally intimate and understated compared to the more glamorous side of Saint-Tropez. Was it important for you to capture a more authentic and creative spirit of the destination?

“We absolutely believe Lou Pinet is glamorous, but in a different way. For us, glamour does not have to be ostentatious. It can be expressed through simplicity, discretion, and the quality of the experience itself.

“We wanted to create a place where guests could truly relax, disconnect from the noise, and reconnect, whether with themselves or with others.

“Saint-Tropez can be vibrant and energetic, but we felt there was space for a more intimate expression of luxury, one rooted in comfort, authenticity, and meaningful moments rather than spectacle.”
